🌀 Why Are We So Fascinated by Hypnosis?

Hypnosis has fascinated people for generations. Some people want to change a habit. Others want to feel calmer or more confident.  Some simply want to know: “Could I actually be hypnotized?” And some eventually become so fascinated that they want to learn hypnosis themselves. But what does research tell us about why people are drawn to it? 🧠 1. We’re curious about what our minds can do One large study surveyed 509 people about their interest in hypnosis. Researchers found that three things were particularly important: people's attitudes toward hypnosis, whether they expected it to work, and whether they thought the experience would be enjoyable or valuable. Together, these factors accounted for 73% of the variation in people's interest in using hypnosis.  In other words, people aren't necessarily interested in hypnosis only because they have a “problem.” Sometimes we're simply fascinated by the experience. What will it feel like? Will it work on me? What can suggestio...

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Lineage, Mind Power, and the Hypnotic Art

Every artist, master, and practitioner carries a lineage—a thread of wisdom passed down through study, sweat, and shared belief. When I step on stage or work with a subject, I do not stand alone. I carry with me the teachings, the energy, and the spirits of the mentors who shaped my hands, my mind, and my understanding of the hypnotic arts. My foundation is rooted in a tradition that spans generations. At the peak of that pyramid sits Ormond McGill, the undisputed "Dean of American Hypnotists," who dared to bridge the gap between Western hypnotic mechanics and Eastern energetic wisdom—delving deep into Chi, Prana, and the untapped reserves of human consciousness. But my direct connection to that legacy came through a man I was privileged to call my mentor and friend: the late, great Tom Silver. Tom was Ormond’s direct student and trusted right hand. Over regular online calls, he pulled back the curtain on the "East Meets West" methods that defined McGill's life...

Energy, Tao, and the Art of Peaceful Living in a Busy World

🌀 Energy, Tao, and the Art of Peaceful Living in a Busy World By Andrew In the quiet moments between the chaos, we can still hear the Tao. Our modern lives move fast. Emails ping. Traffic hums. Notifications buzz like persistent insects. Amid this noisy whirlwind, many of us yearn for something deeper: peace, energy, alignment. Something ancient that still speaks softly beneath the modern noise. This is where Tao—the Way—gently enters. Tao and Effortless Flow Taoism teaches that we don’t need to wrestle with life. Instead, we can learn to flow with it. The Tao is not something to chase. It's like a river: always moving, always there, and always inviting us to move with it—not against it. When we begin to live in harmony with this natural flow, we stop burning unnecessary energy resisting what is . Our energy, once wasted on control, becomes available for presence, clarity, creativity, and healing. The Breath as a Bridge Enter the “2 in, 2 out” breath. Simple. Grounding. ...

Dancing with the Tao: A Thought from the Wind

Dancing with the Tao: A Thought from the Wind by Andrew Z. Soler The other day, I scribbled something. It wasn’t planned, it just… happened. A few lines about Wu Wei , bamboo in the wind, the Tao, and the idea that maybe—just maybe—I’m someone else’s imagination. It got me thinking. Maybe that’s how all truth arrives: not through force, but like wind brushing through leaves. That’s Wu Wei —not doing nothing, but doing nothing unnatural . Letting life move through you, like music through a flute. Some will say this is laziness. But to me, it's alert stillness. It’s choosing not to swim against the river, but to trust its current, knowing it’s all part of something deeper. I don’t always understand it. Sometimes I feel like a ghost in someone else’s dream. Or a projection of a thought the universe had once, and then let go. But in that space of not-knowing, there’s peace. A quiet truth that doesn’t need to be proven or posted. It just is . Like the Tao. So I write. Not to expl...

"Flowing with Life: How Qi Gong and Art Reveal the Hidden Energy of Our World"

Walking in the park, surrounded by the serene green energy of nature, I was reminded of how much the environment influences our spirit. It was in this peaceful setting that I stumbled upon a local art exhibition—seven pieces, each embodying the flow of life and energy, much like the practice of Qi Gong itself. As I admired the artwork, I found myself reflecting on the interconnectedness of energy, momentum, and life. Qi Gong, rooted in ancient Chinese tradition, is all about gathering, cultivating, and balancing energy. It’s an elegant practice, designed to help us become more attuned to the subtle currents of life force — the "Qi" — that flows through all things. Unlike martial arts that often emphasize strength and physical dominance, Qi Gong centers on the harmony of movement, breath, and intention, inviting us to gently guide our energy, rather than forcing it. As I stood before the art, I could feel the same gentle flow — each stroke of paint, eac...

Why Stage Hypnosis Won’t Automatically Make You a Great Therapist

Why Stage Hypnosis Won’t Automatically Make You a Great Therapist Viral TikTok "Hypnosis" Videos 📷. Let’s get real—everyone’s got their own path. This might be one of those things you need to explore for yourself. Like anything else in life, experience (especially personal experience) is everything. That said, I can offer some honest insight. As someone who’s done hypnotherapy and taken the stage for comedy, laughter, and entertainment—I’ve seen both sides. Stage hypnosis is flashy. It grabs attention. It’s fun. But let’s talk about what’s not so glamorous. The Downsides of Stage Work: You're always working weekends Constant gigs (hello, burnout) Travel = time away from family Inconsistent income and bookings Now don’t get me wrong—there’s nothing like the energy of a live show. But if you’re craving something deeper, something more grounded… ask yourself: What do you really want to do? If the answer is “help people transform” or “guide lasting change,” then ...

"Qigong Meets Hypnosis—And My Brain Has Never Felt Better!"

Tapping Into the Mind: My Path to Calm (and a Bit of Muscle Too) If you told me years ago that I'd be geeking out over the power of the mind, practicing self-hypnosis, and doing slow-motion martial arts in my living room, I probably would’ve laughed and carried on lifting weights. But here we are. My journey toward calm, happiness, and just feeling more me started with a deep curiosity about how the mind works. That curiosity led me into Eastern philosophy, then psychology, and eventually to some fascinating practices like guided imagery, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and hypnotherapy. Basically, I’ve become a bit of a personal development sponge. One of the things I’ve stuck with the longest—over 12 years now—is Hypnosis & Qigong. Think of it as graceful movements, kind of like Tai Chi's cool cousin, paired with mindful breathing. I've learned the basics through classes, YouTube dives, and plenty of self-study. What keeps me coming back is how much be...

"Becoming"

"Becoming" At 31, I stand at a crossroads, the map smudged, the signs unclear. I teach, I try, I give what I can— in classrooms, in conversations, in quiet moments of hope. I chase dreams between Zoom calls and hypnotherapy sessions, wondering what legacy lingers after the lights go out. There was once a fire— promise, potential, drive. Is it still there? Buried, maybe. But not gone. I go to the gym, fight battles no one sees: a slice of pizza, a whisper of doubt. But I show up— and that counts for something. I may not know what the future looks like, but I know this: I’m still becoming. And maybe, just maybe, that’s enough for now

"Mind-Blown! The Surprising Secret Behind How We Really Learn"

Passive vs Active Learning: A Personal Take Over time, I’ve realized that not all learning is the same. Some of it just sinks in without us even noticing, while other times, we’re fully engaged, putting in the effort. Both have their place, but they work in very different ways. Honestly, understanding the difference between passive and active learning has totally changed how I think about personal growth and teaching. Let’s Talk About Passive Learning Passive learning is what happens when we’re just taking things in — like listening to a podcast, watching a teacher speak, or even hearing conversations in the background. If we’re in a relaxed state, our minds tend to soak up information more easily. And it’s not just facts — we absorb beliefs, behaviours, and even emotions. Especially when we’re younger, we pick up a lot from the people around us — parents, teachers, friends. This kind of learning happens quietly, often without us realising it. It’s why certain phrases, habits,...

🚴‍♂️ Active Alert Hypnosis: Yes, You Can Be Hypnotized While Power Walking Through Walmart

🚴‍♂️ Active Alert Hypnosis: Yes, You Can Be Hypnotized While Power Walking Through Walmart By Andrew Z Let’s get something straight: hypnosis isn’t all swinging pocket watches and “you are feeling sleepy” nonsense. I mean, sure, that works — if you’re a Victorian ghost. But here in the land of the living, the caffeinated, and the perpetually online, I’ve got something juicier for you: Active Alert Hypnosis . Now, what is it? Imagine you're in a trance while moving . Yes. You heard that right. Eyes open. Heart pumping. Legs doing their thing. And your mind? Quietly tuning into the most powerful version of itself like a spiritual ninja on a treadmill. This ain’t your grandma’s recliner hypnosis. I discovered this little gem while messing around with trance states during hiking, dancing, and at one point, mowing the lawn while reciting mantras (don't try that unless your neighbors are chill). What I found was this: movement sharpens trance. You’re not zoning out — you’re zo...

"The Essence of the Tiger"

The tiger moves with a quiet certainty, each step a whisper against the earth, yet carrying the weight of absolute power. Its body, sleek and coiled with strength, moves as though carved from the essence of the wild itself. There is no hesitation, no self-doubt only the unwavering knowledge of what it is. It does not seek conflict, yet it does not shy from it. It does not roar for attention, yet its presence alone demands respect. Its golden eyes, burning like twin suns, hold a balance between mercy and destruction, between patience and fury. A master of its domain, it blends into the world around it, not separate from nature but one with it—an artist of survival, a poet of movement, a warrior with no need for war. When it hunts, it does so not out of cruelty, but out of necessity. When it rests, it does so not out of weakness, but out of wisdom. Every action, every breath, is measured, precise, as if guided by something ancient and divine. The tiger does not question its w...

The Hypnotist’s Escape: How I Outsmarted a Gang with Words Alone

The Hypnotist’s Escape: How I Outsmarted a Gang with Words Alone By Andrew Z Soler CH  Picture this: a peaceful evening stroll along the river, the world quiet, my mind drifting like the gentle current. Suddenly, a group of lads emerges, their eyes locked on me with the unmistakable glint of trouble. The air thickens. Most would freeze, fight, or flee—but not me. See, when you carry the finesse of conversation, the body of a rock, and the heart of a lion, you don’t panic. You adapt. You control. You lead. I engaged them, but not in the way they expected. I weaved words like a web, dropping confusion techniques, linguistic loops, and embedded commands. I tossed out phrases like, "Why not be peaceful and calm when you can be? As the river might be green..." Their faces twisted in bafflement. Their minds struggled to process the nonsensical rhythm, their grip on aggression slipping. Confusion is key. The human brain craves clarity—when it doesn’t get it, it stalls. A...

How to Beat Stress: Confessions of an Online Hypnotist

How to Beat Stress: Confessions of an Online Hypnotist By Andrew Z Soler CH Let’s be real—stress is like that clingy ex who just won’t leave you alone. You wake up? It’s there. You check your phone? More stress. You try to sleep? Nope, stress has other plans. But what if I told you that your mind has a secret "off switch" for all that anxiety? That’s where I come in. I’m a hypnotist. No, I won’t make you cluck like a chicken (unless that’s your thing). I help people escape the mental chaos that keeps them up at night—without needing a yoga mat or a retreat in Bali. And trust me, I’ve seen it all. The Banker Who Couldn’t Breathe A client once came to me—a high-flying banker who was drowning in deadlines. He’d wake up gasping for air, convinced he was having a heart attack. Doctors said it was just stress, but that didn’t make it any easier. In one session, I guided him into a deep, trance-like state, rewiring his mind to let go of the pressure. Weeks later, he...

Trump’s Hypnotic Secret: How to Command Attention and Influence Anyone

Trump’s Hypnotic Secret: How to Command Attention and Influence Anyone By Andrew Z  This is not a political post—it’s a study in communication, influence, and resilience. Long before Donald Trump became president, I read his books, analyzed his speeches, and studied his unique way of holding an audience. One book that stood out to me was Never Give Up, where he shares stories of setbacks, comebacks, and an unshakable mindset. Whether you agree with him or not, his resilience is undeniable. But what really fascinates me is how he communicates. Trump has a short attention span—and he turns it into a superpower. He doesn’t get bogged down in long explanations. Instead, he speaks in sharp, unforgettable phrases: “Make America Great Again.” “You’re fired.” “Fake news.” These aren’t just slogans; they’re hypnotic triggers, designed to stick in the mind. And then there’s repetition. He drills key phrases over and over, a classic technique used in hypnosis and persuasion. Say s...

The Secrets of Hypnosis: A Window Into the Mind

The Secrets of Hypnosis: A Window Into the Mind Hypnosis has long been shrouded in mystery, often portrayed as a mystical force that grants hypnotists power over the unsuspecting. But the truth is far more fascinating—and far more practical. If you’re skeptical, think of hypnosis as guided imagery , a tool that harnesses the natural power of your mind to create deep focus and transformation. The Science Behind the Trance Despite its dramatic reputation in pop culture, hypnosis is a well-documented psychological phenomenon. When in a hypnotic state, the brain enters a unique zone between wakefulness and sleep—an altered state of awareness where the subconscious becomes more receptive to suggestion. This is not mind control but rather an intentional redirection of focus, much like when you’re deeply engrossed in a book or movie and lose track of time. Studies in neuroscience have shown that hypnosis alters brain activity, enhancing areas responsible for imagination and reducing...
